Green Cleaning: Kitchen Spray

Updated: Feb 8, 2021

As part of a new series on simple solutions for cleaning your home, Green Up Britain aim to deliver a new easy-to-make recipe every Sunday during July to help you save money and reduce plastic waste. Kicking off our Green Cleaning sessions is our tried and tested low-chemical kitchen spray. This recipe will have you thinking twice before ever bringing home a store-bought cleaner again.*

Recipe

In an old, clean spray bottle mix:

  • 1/4 cup white vinegar*

  • 2 tbsp eco washing up liquid or, better still, Castile soap (which is both bio-degradable and non-toxic shop.drbronner.co.uk)

  • 10 drops of essential oil (I use bergamot, lavender, peppermint, or tea tree if I need extra anti-bac power)

  • Warm water

Give it a try and let me know what you think. It's worked well in our house and has saved me a small fortune over the years.

* Don’t use this spray to clean stone surfaces as the vinegar may damage them. In this instance it’s a good idea to leave the vinegar out or clean them with a rubbing alcohol spray.
