A couple of weeks ago we had the pleasure of meeting plant-based chef, Gaz Oakley, when we planted a mixture of fruit trees in his garden in Wales. Gaz is, in my opinion, the best plant-based chef out there, raising to fame on Youtube and Instagram with everyday recipes he successfully 'veganizes'. For example 'fish' and chips, where the fish is made from tofu, a 'beef' joint (which we made last Christmas and was delicious), 'tuna' salad where the tuna strips are baked watermelon and so on. I don't know how he came up with these ideas, but they are genius and I haven't found a recipe my family and I haven't liked yet.
The fruit trees we gifted Gaz should be ready and fruiting for him next year - so he can use the produce to make more delicious recipes on his Avant Garde Vegan channel.
What I especially like about Gaz is that he's started to grow his own produce, cooks what he grows, and has taken his fans on the veg-growing journey with him. As an advocate for living a more sustainable lifestyle, Gaz is definitely someone to aspire to, and a Chef to look out for. I can't wait to see what he comes up with next.
Thanks for a really lovely day Gaz (and cameraman, Tom), and for the delicious plant-based pie you made for us when we finished planting!
