Partnerships that drive environmental impact
Our previous projects showcase Green Up Britain’s dedication to putting ESG principles into meaningful action. From ambitious biodiversity restoration efforts to local community involvement, every initiative is rooted in long-term sustainability.

We’ve organised community tree planting events, collaborated with businesses and councils, and even revitalised a former landfill site in Hampshire, transforming it into a flourishing community orchard. Whether it's establishing wildlife corridors, advancing rewilding initiatives, or educating the next generation, our work delivers real, lasting impact aligned with ESG goals.

Woodland Creation
Eryri National Park (near Conwy), north Wales
Funded through our Grow My Tree package, we planted 2,500 native woodland trees on a hillside within a disused farmstead. Permission for planting was kindly given by Eryri National Park. Each tree was marked with a bamboo cane and protected from the elements using fully biodegradable cardboard shelters, a plastic-free, environmentally responsible solution that aligns with our core sustainability values. To support long-term establishment, we partnered with local rangers, Dion and Rhydian, who will monitor and water the trees as needed over the next three years.
Woodland connectivity
Dinas Mawddwy, Eryri National Park, north Wales
On behalf of our corporate partner, Volvo, we reconnected two previously isolated woodland areas on active farmland by planting 2,300 locally grown native trees. Permission for planting was kindly granted by the landowner and Eryri National Park. To protect the young hedge from grazing livestock, fencing was installed on either side. Once mature, this new green corridor will provide vital habitat for wildlife and a safe passage for animals moving between the two woodlands. The farmer will also benefit, with the hedge serving as a natural windbreak and offering shade and shelter for livestock, a win-win for biodiversity and sustainable land management.

Feature trees
Treharris, Merthyr Tydfil, south Wales
In partnership with PICS Telecom, we planted five large field maple trees in Parc Taf Bargoed to enhance biodiversity and bring seasonal colour to the landscape. Once a coal-strewn site above a former coalfield, the area has undergone significant regeneration. Permission for planting was kindly granted by Merthyr Borough Council and Ranger Ewan.

To ensure safe planting, the soil was pre-dug in advance, avoiding any risk of striking residual big lumps of coal, and a water source was arranged to support tree establishment. The trees are now thriving in their new home and will be cared for by Ranger Ewan.
Coppice creation
Farnham Park, Surrey, England
Together with Maintel, we planted a hazel coppice in Farnham Park to expand the habitat for the endangered hazel dormouse. Permission for planting was kindly given by the landowners, Waverley Borough Council and Ranger Nick. The new trees were planted adjacent to an existing woodland with established hazel trees, extending a coppice initially created during a community tree planting event.

To further enhance biodiversity, Green Up Britain plans to introduce native spring bulbs to this area in the near future, supporting a wider range of pollinators and wildlife. The coppice is protected from deer through traditional hedge laying, a sustainable technique that prolongs the life of the laid trees while creating valuable habitats for various species.
